Klimt and his world; the Art and Culture of the Fin de Siecle Gavin Plumley Tuesday 27 February 2018

We had a superb lecturer, Gavin Plumley, who gave 3 one hour talks about the Cultural and Social context in Vienna at the turn of the last Century.

He introduced us to Painters such as Gustav Klimt & Egon Schiele, plus the  Architects, Otto Wagner & Adolph Loos, the psychoanalyst, Siegmund Freud and the Composer Gustav Mahler.( We even had some music.)

Looking at these and other figures in context explained why Vienna became a cultural hotbed and one of the most exciting artistic laboratories in the world around 1900.

Gavin got the context and information across succinctly and logically and amusingly &made it all easy to assimilate.

It was a fun, amusing, informative and interesting day shared with likeminded people, seemingly enjoyed by all.
