A VISIT TO BATH  April 17th 2018

This visit will start at No.1 The Royal Crescent.  An opportunity to view this property decorated and furnished just as it might have been during the period 1176-1796 ,the rooms feature historic furniture, pictures and objects that reveal what life was like for Bath’s fashionable residents both upstairs and downstairs.

There is also an exhibition entitled; Women’s Suffrage 100: Freedom and Fight in Bath and a short film featuring an imagined conversation between Bath suffragette Mary Blathwayt and social reformer and literary critic Elizabeth Montagu.

The coach will then take us to the Holburne Museum, home to fine and decorative arts around the collection of Sir William Holburne. There are also two exhibitions: Lighting Up the Stage: Stars of the Georgian Theatre; Somerset Maugham’s private collection of theatrical prints. Secondly the first major exhibition of Anthony Fry’s work – Fry (1927-2016) lived and worked near Bath for 60 years and became a huge commercial success in Britain and America with his evocative landscapes.  The cost of this visit will be £25 to include transport and entry to No 1.
